My Precept: "To provide the support, resources and environment to inspire others to achieve their personal best."

AMPLUS Productions My production style interests are wide - rock, pop, country, alternative, acoustic, folk, roots, americana, singer/songwriter, world fusion and more. AMPLUS Productions is my production company. I'm hooked up with some very cool reasonably priced studios throughout Canada and key cities in the US. I also have a small but effective production space of my own: Dixie South Recording.

Perspective is everything. Knowing how your artistic position compares to the world market, understanding your strengths and weaknesses and tuning your direction with awareness and informed intuition are the keys to designing your path to success. We tend to describe our favourite productions in audio superlatives, but it's more than that. That audio we're hearing is the result of a focused team locked on to the target and pumped to output their best.

If you have shuffled through the production samples on this site already, you will notice that no two of them sound the same. Technology affords us convenient ways to copy something that works. That's why so many productions sound the same, often having little to do with the true character of the artist's live sound. It's much more risky and insecure but eventually rewarding to patiently craft a production that stands out from the crowd. We all have our own fingerprints, DNA and personalities. Some artists sound best living on the edge, dressed in edgy trashy audio. Others demand a carefully organised hi-fi approach. Some need mellow, others punchy. Maybe layered, maybe simple. I love the adventure of identifying an artist's unique character and designing a production that enhances it.

Of course, to craft a recording in a style that has little relevance to where music trends are going would be blind irresponsibility, but most artists would prefer to be known as leaders rather than followers. And the last thing any artist wants is to be part way through a recording project with the nasty feeling that everything's headed in the wrong direction. In my view, it's the producer's responsibility to prevent that. That's why I have designed a unique survey that explores your imagination before we start the design process. When completed, it reveals how you see yourself and your place in the music world. From there, I can design a production approach that supports your character and expectations. At each phase of the project we consult with each other to be sure we are on track. The goal is to present a recording that is both unique and relevant to the world we live in. So, if you're looking for a production that "sounds like _______", I'm not your guy.

Here you will find short excerpts from a few of my recent productions as well as a retro trip through some of my work in the 80s and 90s. So, check out some sounds and then let's talk about your dreams.
